There’s a saying that when you fall down, you should get back up, and try again. It’s a great motto for life — to never give up and to persevere. That’s exactly what Joe Mae did when he auditioned for The Voice.

Maye had auditioned once before and didn’t make it through — but this wasn’t going to stop him from hanging on to his dream. Maye ended up returning once again to audition for the four judges.

In hopes of winning the judges over, Maye decided to sing “I Put A Spell On You.” Little did he know, that was one of Christina Aguilera’s favorite songs. As Maye started singing, it wasn’t long before he piqued everyone’s interest.

It wasn’t long before his performance was enough to make Christina want to press her buzzer and turn around. She was eager to be his voice coach. But, of course, she wasn’t going to nab him that easily.

Soon after Christina turned her chair, Blake Shelton decided to do the same. Now, the singer was going to have a choice between judges. Christina would now have to really compete to try and woo Maye over to her team.

Maye was ecstatic to wrap up his audition with two judges to choose from. It was a dream come true to sing again on this stage, and hopefully many more times to come. It was finally all happening for him. Aguilera informed Maye that it was her favorite song and would love to sing it with him someday.

And before you know it, that statement was taken as a challenge…

A couple of years ago, you might have come across a video on YouTube of a young man named Gary Barker. It went viral because his rendition of ‘Uptown Funk’ at a bus stop inspired total strangers to show off their dance movies.

Since then, he had gained a bit of attention and fame in his hometown of Liverpool; he even sings regularly at the local pubs around town. That’s why his fans were so excited when they found out he’d be a contestant on the X-Factor.

When Barker, 30, walked on the stage, he was hoping to wow the judges and make his two kids proud. He told the judges he’d be singing ‘Uptown Funk;’ the same song that had catapulted him into the YouTube spotlight in the first place.

Whether it was his nerves or the intimidating feeling of Simon staring you down, Barker’s performance ended just as soon as it began. The moment he began to sing, he was lacking the same energy he had years ago. The judges told him to stop.

The audition continues as Barker pleas to the judges to have a second chance. He tells them that his nerves had indeed gotten the best of him. Simon looks at him intently.

Evie Abplanalp recently had the heartbreaking experience of losing her father to stage 4 colon cancer. However, this didn’t stop her from continuing on to perform during the finale on America’s Got Talent.

At the time of her father’s diagnosis, Armos Abplanalp was given only a 5% chance of survival. However, during his treatment, he still worked at the Latter Day Saint church as a bishop, as well as a prison counselor.

It was actually Armos’ diagnosis that inspired his daughter to audition for the show in the first place. The audience and judges absolutely fell in love with her when she performed a rendition of Macy Gray’s “I Try.” It was a tribute to her father.

She also performed Birdy’s “Wings” and wowed the entire room each time. Apparently, impressing the television audience as well because she kept advancing, round after round.

During semi-finals, she revealed to the judges that her father’s organs were beginning to fail. He had to be placed on life support. They weren’t even sure if he was going to make it through the night.

Evie and her mom needed to stay to hear the results from the semi-finals, but the rest of the family quickly rushed to be by his side. They prayed that he would make it long enough for Evie to come back to say goodbye.

On talent shows like The X-Factor, you see and hear hundreds if not thousands of talented people. It’s pretty hard to stand out in a crowd like that, but if you do you know it’s because you’ve got something extra special. This singer definitely has that, with a voice so emotional it left Simon in tears at his audition.

This soulful singer’s name is Josh Daniels, and he took the world by storm when he decided to sing his rendition of Labrinth’s song Jealous. The song alone is emotional, but Daniels’ cover will have you choking back tears of your own.

Can you imagine just going on a show that heirs to millions of people to put your heart, and your talent, out there? The thought alone would give most people a small heart attack! If you think that’s bad, try being last to audition, after droves of other talented people.

Talk about bravery. Daniel’s put himself out there in more ways than just singing. The song he chose has intense meaning for him. He explained to the judges that he’d had a best friend that he was inseparable from. Though he doesn’t tell how it happened, everyone felt the weight of his words when he said he lost him.

Little did Simon know, he unleashed a vocal beast in the 41 year old singer. Drawing on inspiration from her life of hard work and precious memories, Denise reaches into her own depths and pulls off a performance that would have had Whitney herself in tears!
