Kentucky Sees Highest Spike In Coronavirus Cases After A Week of Protests To Reopen State

This breaking news just might give other states that are preparing to reopen a serious moment of pause…or panic.
Democratic Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear revealed Sunday that the state has set a grim record of 273 new confirmed coronavirus infections, the largest single-day rise to date.
Kentucky’s rise in infected COVID-19 individuals comes after demonstrators took to the streets all week to call for a re-opening of the state.
With the additional 273 confirmed infections, Kentucky now has 2,960 new virus outbreaks and 1,122 recoveries. Beshear also reported four new deaths Sunday, taking the total number of state-wide deaths to 148.
“We are still in the midst of this fight against a deadly and highly contagious virus,” the governor said during his daily news conference. “Let’s make sure, as much as we’re looking at those benchmarks and we’re looking at the future, that we are acting in the present and we are doing the things that it takes to protect one another.”
